- Moscow and Blueberry Pie -



So I happen to be still alive, yes. Nearly half a year it’s been since my last journal entry. So, what’s news since I last posted?

Well, besides spending hours and hours in my beloved university library (♥!) studying for several exams I experienced the benefits of crutches (aka involuntarily building up muscle mass on the upper arms), successfully passed rather hard archaeology tests and handed in a seminar paper on film theory.

The accident thingy occurred while I was literally jumping on a hotel bed, behaving accordingly to my mostly juvenile mental age. And to add up to the absurdity, the whole thing has been recorded on tape and broadcasted.

Well, I was asked - or rather talked into participating in a segment for the tv broadcast company I’m working for. We planned to do a piece about bed jumping, that being jumping and getting taken pictures of in silly poses in the air. So our protagonists turned out to be two local trampoline champions who were to present different stunts in front of my lens. All went fine, time flew by and when everything seemed to be nearly done and we were about to return to the editorial everyone of us (minus the operator) had a go at jumping themselves.

I jumped, landed rather awkwardly with the tendons in my leg awkwardly twisted and voilà, there was a loud cracking sound and I had to let myself fall on the side. The funny thing is, my bloody leg absolutely didn’t hurt. After a couple of minutes, standing up still worked, but walking didn’t.

The ambulance arrived and took me to the hospital where the lazy bastards in white shocked me with a diagnosis of a cruciate ligament rupture and decided to schedule a knee surgery asap. I sent them to hell and got my leg checked by a sports physician and a good acquaintance of my parents the next morning. He didn’t confirm the diagnosis of the hospital docs and prescribed me 2 months of physical therapy instead. So now, my leg is back to normal, and I haven’t got any further unnecessary scars.

So, if you’re a sensationalist (and/or German speaking) you can have a look at the clip over here. Don’t expect to see anything dramatic though. You can’t even hear any cracking sound as it’s been faded out for aesthetical reasons.
I’m still laughing recalling the stupidity of the whole thing!

It all started when we analysed the movie C_HUNGKING E_XPRESS at a time lapse/slow motion seminar at Uni. If you haven’t heard anything from Wong Kar-Wai before you definitely should give him a try as his works really differ from the filming philosophy of western movies.
